  • The Annual Weekend Course entitled Exploration and Environmental Geochemistry will take place between May 10th and 11th at the Hotel Kilkenny, Kilkenny. Further details and prices can be found here. A fieldtrip to Galmoy Mine has also been arrange for Friday 9th May.
  • A one-day Irish Carbonate Stratigraphy Workshop is currently being organised for mid to late June. The workshop is primarily aimed at recent graduates and new exploration geologists in Ireland. Half the day will be lecture-based (stratigraphy, tectonics and sedimentation) and the afternoon will look at drill core from various lower Carboniferous locations. The course will likely take place in Navan. More details will follow.
  • Interested in visiting VMS deposits in Newfoundland in September? Planning has begun for a 7 - 10 day field trip to central Newfoundland in late Spetember. It is anticipated that participants will visit the following current and past producing VMS deposits: Duck Pond (active), Buchans, Rambler, Betts Cove and Tilt Cove.   • The IAEG is please to announce a major two-day Minex conference scheduled to take place in London in September 2008. The conference, to be entitled "The Contribution of UK and Ireland to Global Mineral Exploration" is intended to be the pilot for a series of biennial meetings.
